When we first started raising rabbits we raised them in their own cages. After observing them in their cages and fighting the warm weather in the summer we decided to build a colony style enclosure for them so they can enjoy more space, dig and play in the dirt and hay, as well as be together. We couldn’t be more happy with this geodesic dome.
The Rabbit Dome is a 16’ geodesic dome built from 1/2” EMT Conduit piping. The specific build details are HERE.
We built a 16” wide garden bed around half of the one around the perimeter about 30’ long. We mostly grow Malabar Spinach and native vines to provide extra shade for the rabbits. We also grow echinacea, lemon balm, garlic, and thyme. These herbs provide a natural dewormer for the rabbits. We also grow other edible and non-edible plants in this garden area.
Below are picture of the build and how it all came together.
